Freelance Editor
Description
We are seeking a 1099, contracted editor with digital copywriting experience for 40+ hours per week of work, indefinitely, with a potential for full-time official hire after six (6) months assessment.
As our Freelance Editor, you are responsible for editing and writing content for cross-channel campaigns, websites, blogs, as well as email marketing and social media campaigns. We want your content to be engaging to the reader, compelling to prospects, and high quality in both craft and storytelling.
We are looking for an experienced creative writer who likes to work independently. You are team-oriented, and you care about what you write and how you write it. You are meticulous, diligent, and resourceful.
Your day to day focuses on editing copy from our teams of freelance writers, working with our in-house team of writers and editors on Web content and marketing copy, and assisting with creative projects from an administrative capacity.
*Though remote, this position only applies to candidates who reside and will indefinitely continue to reside in the following states: AZ, CA,CO, FL, IL, IN, NJ, NY, PA, TN, TX, VA, VT, WA, WY, OR.
Responsibilities
Editing the content of your fellow writers with care and attention to detail
Writing engaging and on-brand content for your clients, including campaign briefs, cross-channel campaign copy, blog posts, website content, social media copy, email marketing copy, internal documentation, and occasionally internal marketing
Acting as a resource about the details of home service industries, such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and roofing
Collaborating with our Content Team, as well as team members in our SEO, Social Media, and Email Marketing departments
Assisting the development and innovation of our house style guide
Writing biweekly blog posts and generating blog topics that address the needs of our clients’ target audience, convert visitors into marketing qualified leads, or compel the audience to take action
Staying up to date with content marketing, SEO and affiliate marketing trends
Desired Skills & Experience
Minimum of 3 years of professional content writing and editing experience
Expertise at writing that compels an action, such as sign ups, sales or leads
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Experience with Wordpress
Experience with Google Workspace
Ability to proofread and edit content thoroughly, correcting for punctuation, grammar, spelling, and style
Ability to translate technical explanations into terms appropriate to our clients’ customers (homeowners and commercial property owners)
Familiarity with best practices for SEO and content marketing
Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
Ability to work independently, manage multiple clients, and meet various deadlines simultaneously
Ability to adjust priorities quickly in order to respond to pressing demands
Knowledge of the home services industry is a plus
